Apple's A9 processor found in its latest iPhones ranked first in an AnTuTu benchmark test. Larger than the A9 chip is the A9X in the iPad Pro, which features a 12-core GPU for powerful performance.
The Apple A9 chipset in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus beat other processors in an AnTuTu benchmark test as posted in Weibo. Online Romanian news site Mobilissimo.ro reported that a photo of the performance statistics of different processors in an AnTuTu benchmark was seen in the Chinese social media site.
It appeared that the top performing chipset was the Apple A9 with 123,567 points. Coming in second place is the Apple A8X with 98,901 points. The third top processor according to the test is Huawei Mate 8's Kirin chip, with 92,746 points.
The Exynos 7420 which powers Samsung Galaxy devices only came in fourth place with 86,652 points. It is followed by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 with 81,049 points. The processor with the least accumulated number of points is the MediaTek MT6735 with 28,683 points.
According to Tech Times, Apple said that the A9 chip delivers faster performance. "You'll experience up to 70 percent faster CPU performance, and up to 90 percent faster GPU performance for all your favorite graphics-intensive games and apps." The company claimed that the A9 chip is the most advanced processor for smartphones.
Meanwhile, Apple equipped the iPad Pro with a newer processor larger than the A9. The A9X chip in the iPad Pro features a 12-core GPU that is said to beat the performance of the latest Intel processors.
Forbes reported that the A9X chip has 4GB of RAM with CPU clocked at 2.26GHz. The A9X is made by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) using 16nm FinFET process.
There are rumors that Apple will equip the next iPhone with an A10 chipset. Currently, the latest iPhone 6s and 6s Plus run on A9 processors made by TSMC and Samsung.
