Aaron LaBerge, the chief technology officer for Disney Entertainment and ESPN, is stepping down from his role at the company.
According to CNBC, Aaron LaBerge will be assuming the position of CTO at PENN Entertainment, which operates ESPN Bet, a licensed online sportsbook of the sports media giant.
In his new role, he will spearhead technology strategy as a top executive in PENN Entertainment's interactive division. According to an internal memo, LaBerge will remain with Disney until June to ensure a smooth transition.
During his tenure at Disney Entertainment, Aaron LaBerge played a pivotal role in developing the company's streaming services and integrating advertising into Disney+. He also led efforts to consolidate Hulu and Disney+ into a single streaming application introduced last month.
LaBerge was also instrumental in driving the development of ESPN's streaming platforms, including ESPN+ and the upcoming flagship sports streaming service slated for launch in 2025, jointly owned by Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Fox.
