Nothing is forever for any TV show, but the cancellation after the primary season of the two series-'Forever' and 'Cristela'- is something quite unexpected. Although both shows have flaws, like any others, both may deserve to be seen on the small screens for at least another season. Will Netflix pick up 'Forever', and Hulu for 'Cristela'?
Network ABC has yanked both TV series: 'Forever' and 'Cristela'. Both had decent runs, gaining 9-episode back orders for 22-episode first seasons, something not every new show is able to accomplish.
'Forever' managed great ratings throughout the season, which debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that. The show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
But after the show ended and the network's verdict, the online petition to save 'Forever' came to existence. It now has almost 27 thousand signatures. Some fans are saying another network -- or perhaps Netflix Inc. -- should pick up the series where ABC left off. But no one has confirmed the possibility yet.
On the other hand, 'Cristela' started with a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.5 million viewers, and dipped to a low 0.9 demo rating with roughly 4.7 million viewers with its April 17 finale.
Like 'Forever', 'Cristela' fans and cast were disappointed by the network's decision. Many wanted to see more, as there are lots of things need to be answered for the Season 2. If ABC is not giving a second chance, reports told that Hulu may pick up the show. In fact, the Season 1 of 'Cristela' is available to stream on Hulu Plus. Why not continue it on Season 2? The network is even rumored to be in talks to revive Fox's 'The Mindy Project' after the ax fell on them.
Fans, are you still hopeful for 'Forever' and 'Cristela' renewal?
