Xenomorphs will appear once again in the big screen, as Niell Blomkamp's Alien 5 is underway and might film in Vancouver, Canada. Some of the actors from the Ridley Scott's 1979 movie Alien are coming back to reprise their roles.
Unlike Scott's Prometheus which aims to expand the franchise by getting away from the xenomorphs, Blomkamp's Alien 5 will reportedly focus on xenomorphs and the characters in the movie.
Also, Blomkamp said that he and Scott made sure that there won't be any overlap in their upcoming movies especially because both movies revolve around the same universe.
"I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping Prometheus a little bit. One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make," he said.
Aside from that, Alien 5 will also be based on the events from Scott's 'Alien', and James Cameron's 'Aliens', while not crediting the events in the movies 'Alien 3' and 'Alien: Resurrection'.
Even though it has not been confirmed yet, reports suggest that filming for the movie will take place in Vancouver, Canada following the post from the website, YVRShoots which is a production blog that about film and television projects which will film in Vancouver.
As to the film's cast, Sigourney Weaver has been confirmed to come back for Alien 5 to reprise her role as Ellen Ripley. 'The Divide' actor Michael Biehn has also been rumored to reprise his role as Cpl. Dwayne Hicks. Meanwhile, Bill Paxton has also expressed his interest in reprising his role as Hudson, saying, "Maybe. I mean, if you're going to bring Hicks back, you've got to have Hudson!" he said.
Alien 5 will be produced by Ridley Scott along with Neill Blomkamp who is also set to direct the film.
Although the exact date for the release of the film has not been announced yet, Alien 5 is said to be released a year after Prometheus 2 hits theaters.
