Elon Musk recently announced another mass layoff. But, unlike the other layoff activities, this latest one made huge headlines because he terminated his entire Supercharger team.

This is a big deal for many since Tesla heavily relies on its EV charging station. However, despite the massive termination of his Supercharger team, the billionaire said that his EV charging network will still grow.

Elon Musk Says Supercharger Network Will Grow Despite Team Termination

Quartz reported that Elon Musk is still optimistic that their Supercharger network will grow despite axing the company's EV charging team.

"Tesla still plans to grow the Supercharger network, just at a slower pace for new locations and more focus on 100% uptime and expansion of existing locations," said the Tesla CEO via his official X post.

He even replied to a comment from a user who criticized Tesla for not having EV chargers in Glacier National Park. Elon Musk said that they will open new Tesla Superchargers there, claiming that some EV charging units are already under construction.

"It's definitely going to open. Sites under construction will be completed, and we will add additional Superchargers anywhere there are gaps," the billionaire added.

Tesla Allegedly Backs Out of Some Leases for Superchargers

Various sources claimed that Elon Musk backed out of some leases, which were supposed to be for new Supercharger stations. Some of these leases were located in New York City.

The Supercharger stations that were supposed to be constructed there were announced earlier in 2024. Tesla said these charging units would address overcrowded Supercharger stations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens.

However, Tesla's plan to address NYC's overcrowded Superchargers will no longer happen. However, it isn't confirmed whether the cancellation of the leases is connected to the latest Supercharger team termination that Elon Musk made.
