Elon Musk's Tesla has settled a lawsuit filed by a former factory worker who claimed she was dismissed after reporting sexual harassment incidents.
Tyonna Turner's 2023 lawsuit was dropped by United States District Judge William Orrick in San Francisco, California, on Monday after the two parties told the judge about the settlement. However, the details of the agreement were kept under wraps.
Former Tesla Employee Allegedly Harassed Around 100 Times
Tyonna Turner was previously an employee at Tesla's Fremont assembly facility. According to Reuters, the facility has been the subject of many lawsuits alleging that the firm did little to stop the pervasive harassment of female and Black employees.
Tesla has denied wrongdoing in such instances. According to Turner, she was harassed around 100 times in her almost two years of employment at the Fremont facility.
One instance included a male colleague who allegedly stalked and followed her as she moved around the factory. Turner claimed she was fired in September 2022 over what she believes was retaliation for reporting the harassment and an injury at the workplace.
Elon Musk's Tesla Is Facing More Legal Challenges
Similar to Tyonna Turner's allegations, at least six more Tesla lawsuits are pending in California state court. According to the New York Post, Tesla is also facing lawsuits over tolerating widespread racial discrimination at the Fremont plant and other facilities.
The lawsuits include claims from a US anti-discrimination agency, another case by its California counterpart, and a class action on behalf of 6,000 Black workers, who were allegedly subjected to continuous racial slurs, assigned to less attractive jobs, and retaliated against for complaining.
