A Delta Airlines flight bound for Amsterdam was forced to make an emergency landing at New York City's JFK Airport early Wednesday morning, July 3, following an alarming incident of food contamination, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Delta Flight 136 (Airbus A330 aircraft), carrying 277 passengers, took off from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport late Tuesday evening, July 2.
Upon discovering the issue with the meal service mid-flight, the flight crew swiftly consulted with medical experts who advised diverting to JFK Airport for immediate medical assistance.
What Happened to Delta Airlines Passengers
The plane landed safely around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Emergency medics were on standby to assist 24 affected individuals, including 14 passengers and 10 crew members. All declined further medical attention.
According to NDTV, passengers were promptly provided with accommodations and arrangements for alternative travel amid one of the busiest travel periods in the United States due to the upcoming July 4th holiday.
In response to inquiries by ABC News, a Delta spokesperson expressed regret over the incident and assured ongoing investigations into the cause.
