President Joe Biden faces pressure from prominent donors within his party, including Disney heiress Abigail Disney, who announced she would cease funding to the Democratic Party unless Biden withdraws from the presidential race.
According to CNBC, Abigail Disney, granddaughter of Roy Disney, co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, voiced her stance following Joe Biden's shaky performance in a recent debate against former President Donald Trump.
Abigail told CNBC she would stop contributing to the party until Biden stepped down. Despite Biden's assurance that he would not withdraw, she emphasized that her decision is grounded in pragmatism.
The Disney heiress believes Joe Biden's continued candidacy would ensure a Democratic loss in the election, which she described as having dire consequences.
She has steadfastly supported Democratic causes, donating substantial sums to various political action committees and candidates. Disney said Vice President Kamala Harris is a viable alternative to Biden, arguing that Democrats could achieve a decisive victory if they rally around her.
