After the $478 million world wide gross income of the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie last 2014, a sequel was announced to be released next year on the 3rd of June 2016. The movie will be back to cater to kids of this generation and the children of the 80's and 90's who grew up patronizing the animated series and movies.

It was announced that the director of the first movie, Jonathan Liebesman who is currently directing the event series, "Shannara" will turn over the directorship for the second movie to the "Earth to Echo" director, David Green. Screenrant reports that Platinum Dunes and Michael Bay (Transformers) will still produce the film, and Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec will still be the screenwriters.

According to Variety, Paramount wanted a new angle for the movie and make it more child-centered. David Green and his child-friendly approach which was evident in his previous films was what attracted the instigators of the sequel.

Good news from Rob Bricken, producer Andrew Form has confirmed that Shredder's mutant experiments Bebop (the human warthog) and Rocksteady (the anthropomorphic rhinoceros) will make an appearance in the second movie together with the crowd favorite crazy vigilante Casey Jones who is the closest human ally of our TMNT heroes. It was also rumored that Krang  (disembodied brain of a sinister alien warlord) would finally make its appearance in the TMNT sequel. However, it was confirmed that Megan Fox and Will Arnett will be back in the sequel.

So the question is, will the sequel of this movie surpass the views of the first one? Will there be a difference between the ogre-like facades of the movie's heroes and the mutant foot clan members? I guess we just need to wait next year for us to find out.
