Sherlock Season 4 Update: Christmas Special Announced; Production to start April 2016

By

Sherlock fans are in for a special gift this holiday season as Sherlock is back with a Christmas special to air on Christmas Day.

Reported by The Week, Sherlock showrunner Steven Moffat made a vague pronouncement that filming will begin in April 2016. Viewers will need to make the most of the Christmas special, however, as they face a long wait to see series four.

According to iDigitalTimes, Entertainment Weekly had an interview with Steven Moffat about what to expect on the fourth season. Moffat dropped some clues about the changes to the Sherlock-verse in the show's eagerly awaited Victorian-era special.

Moffat revealed at the Television Critics Association's press tour that Sherlock will not be the rude man he is in previous seasons. Sherlock, according to Moffat, is a bit "more polished" and "operates like a Victorian gentleman" and "a lot less brattish." He also referred to Dr. Watson as "more uptight."

Sources also tells that the time traveling won't be explained in the episode. "We never bothered explaining what they were doing in modern London, so why bother explaining what they're doing in Victorian London, when that's where they're supposed to be?" Moffat reasoned.

A ghost may be involved, as reported by Vine Report. Moffat teased that there may be ghost involved in the episode which makes for a more interesting plot. "This strand of Doyle original stories are creepy and scary, and the chillers, we haven't done much with in the modern show. But putting it back into Victorian times, you think it's a chance to do a ghost story, really - a creep, scary one."

There is still no exact date on the premier of Sherlock season 4 yet but excitement and anticipation adds up when a trailer was released for a first look on what's in store for the fourth season.
