Today the company announced that it has completed acquisition for Energy Micro AS. The strategic acquisition move accelerates Silicon Lab's growth opportunities.
Energy Micro AS is based in Oslo, Norway. The company offers the most energy efficient portfolio in the industry. The acquisition of Energy Micro allows Silicon Labs to expand its 32 bit microcontrollers (MCUs) and wireless SoC portfolio. This added the company 250 energy friendly MCUs and new low-power wireless protocols such as Bluetooth LE.
The agreement stipulates that the shareholders of Energy Micro will get an up-front payment of US$115 million in cash. Additional amount of deferred and earn-out consideration will also be given amounting to US$55 million. Energy Micro is expected to contribute around US$7 million in revenue in the second half of 2013.
