Just when Back to the Future Day has ended, another fun occasion is fast approaching in a few days' time - Halloween. Ultra Street Fighter IV will celebrate Halloween early with the release of a few Halloween costume packs. Capcom revealed that they will release Halloween-themed costume packs starting October 27 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
Capcom is well-known for creating interesting packs for Street Fighter 4. In fact, Capcom listed in their official site that players can, "Purchase the retail or full download version (of Street Fighter IV) and get access to over 100 DLC costumes included on disc."
Ultra Street Fighter IV is another sequel that packs a punch. In the same Capcom page, the game added five new characters, six new battle environments, team battle mode, and many more. The best improvement that Capcom made were the balance fixes to 39 characters and core system mechanics. These fixes were all gathered from actual fan feedback.
Capcom has really pushed Street Fighter in the past. Earlier this month, Ultra Street Fighter IV was included in the famous Humble "Capcom" Bundle for only $15, as reported by Nerd Reactor. This is a big initiative by Capcom to reach out to competitive PC gamers.
Another popular fan outreach made by Capcom is its high profile partnership with fighting tournaments like Evo. The Evolution Championship Series, better known as Evo, is an annual professional fighting game tournament. The games played therein include Ultra Street Fighter IV as the main event. Last year's Street Fighter IV game was won by Luffy using Rose as his character.
This July, the Evo Street Fighter event was won by the premiere fighter of Nagoya, Japan, Yusuke Momochi. Momochi usually makes use of Yun or Ken depending on the game. This win gave Momochi automatic qualification in the Capcom Cup.
The arcade business has weakened globally, yet Street Fighter IV is still alive and thriving. When Ultra Street Fighter IV was released earlier in 2014, the franchise never stopped evolving by adding new innovations and fixing balance issues. This solidified Street Fighter as the undisputed reigning king of the fighting game genre in eSports. Releasing costume packs is a way for Capcom to generate constant interest and special content for this game.
According to Gamespot, "Players can access the costumes by purchasing the Complete Horror Pack for $19.99/€17.99/£14.99 or buying an individual pack for select characters at $3.99/€3.99/£3.29."
