Sprint is bound for the testing of Android 6.0 Marshmallow software to its units of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge which is slated to come next month. The device is now in manufacturer development stage.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones' current status on Sprint is expected to be capped off by November and will immediately proceed to the testing phase of Android 6.0 Marshmallow software. The cutting-edge and record-breaking phablet is currently in development stage wherein Sprint and Samsung have agreed to support the Marshmallow upgrade.
In the testing stage, the device will go through a certification procedure from T-Mobile to make sure high quality software experience. This will last for at least two weeks and if deemed successful, will proceed to the official roll out of the new Android build. However, release date will vary according to the discretion of the mobile carrier and the device's location.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow software is confirmed rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge units of Sprint with build number SM-G925T. As of the moment, about one-half of Sprint runs on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software version while the other half on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
Being the biggest software upgrade undertaken by Google developers for Android, the Marshmallow update will bring in support for USB Type-C and fingerprint scanners, app permissions, and many more in the box.
The USB Type-C technology is an all-in-one connector that can be used to charge phone roughly three hours quicker than the regular charging duration. The charger is also fit to be used by tablets and other types of devices.
Marshmallow also brings standardized support for fingerprint scanners. Apart from its original use for unlocking and securing phone, fingerprint scanners now support Android Pay, just more improved, simpler and less hassle without compromising mobile payment's safety.
With apps permissions, device will bid permission for actions done for the first time. Unlike before, permission will no longer be asked certain features at the point of installation.
Overall, Android 6.0 Marshmallow software is widely focused on developing better user experience for Android users.
