Before new Toyota vehicles can be sold and affected cars driven again by customers, it must be examined and fixed first for any defects. The Japanese automaker made this initiative move to avoid fines and charges as well as accidents.
The problem that customers have with the recalled vehicles is the power window master switch that may have been manufactured with insufficient lubricant grease. If not sufficient grease is applied, the switch may create a short circuit that could cause the switch assembly to overheat, melt and leads to fire.
To fix the problem, dealers are going to inspect the switch and apply grease that could withstand high temperature. Just in case the switch will not function properly, that is the time that the internal circuit board needs to be replaced. There will be no charge and the fixing process will take about 45 minutes, according to Cars.com.
Toyota Scion is one of the many cars recalled due to defects. Because of some defective parts of the equipment and air bags, customers must check if their vehicle is already one of those affected. Here is a list of Scion models recalled by Toyota, according to AutoMD.
