A possible release date for Star Fox Zero has been revealed at quite an unexpected way. A Danish retailer was said to have posted a possible release window for the Nintendo Wii U game.
According to the website Attack of the Fanboy, a Danish retailer named CoolShop claims that Star Fox Zero will be relased on February 26, 2016.
Damian Seeto of Attack of the Fanboy argued that the date is "plausible" because it's a Friday where most games come out in Europe. In addition, Nintendo itself announced that the game will have "an early 2016 release."
This CoolShop release date rumor is making the rounds in the blogosphere this week. Many gaming websites seem to agree that the date is legit, but the unofficial Nintendo blog Wii U Daily is a little bit pessimistic, "This is (the rumored release date) by no means a confirmation that the game will be out on that day, it’s simply a placeholder date for now."
Regardless of the release date, Star Fox Zero is available for pre-order in the official Nintendo Star Fox Zero page for both the United States and Canada.
The original Star Fox debuted for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993. The reception for this space shooter/simulation game was mostly positive. In fact, the game was scored 34 out of 40 by Famitsu Magazine, and a 4.125 out of 5 by the now defunct Nintendo Power Magazine. Inspite of the great reception, Star Fox 2 was cancelled even though it was a finished game. The unreleased game featured a multiplayer mode that was later replicated in Star Fox 64.
Star Fox Zero would surely give the Wii U a good boost this year. However, the release date for this game and Legend of Zelda was moved to next year.
Star Fox Zero is a Wii U exclusive. You can pre-purchase the game on Amazon for $59.96. Pre-order is also available for places like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Gamestop, ToysRUs, and Target. Check with your local retailer to get actual pre-order prices.
