"The View" panel co-host and former "That's So Raven" star Raven-Symoné has gotten herself into deep trouble again. Controversy sparked when Symoné defended Ben Fields, a police officer who went to extreme measures to remove a high school student who was using a cell phone, on "The View" show.
"The girl was told multiple times to get off the phone. There's no right or reason for him to be doing this type of harm- that's ridiculous- but at the same time, you gotta follow the rules in school. First of all, why are there cellphones in school? This shouldn't even be a problem to begin with, and he shouldn't have been acting like that on top of it," Symoné said on the show, as reported by US Magazine.
There was an online petition to remove Symoné from the long-time running morning show which was started by Che Scott-Heron. Currently, 133,562 out of 150,000 signatures needed have already signed the petition.
Scott-Heron wrote on the petition page that the co-host should be removed from "The View" because Symoné has been putting out ignorant and self-hating spiels and people need strong black role models on television which Symoné cannot provide.
Ever since she came to the show, Symoné has sparked the attention of many, especially on the Internet due to her opinions, thus creating buzz for "The View." Recently, Symoné has confidently stated that she would not hire a person for having a ghetto name which sparked a similar controversy which she apologized for.
Even her father Christopher Pearman addressed the issue through Facebook, calling his daughter "a beautiful, and sweet heated human being even though sometimes she says some dumb 'S#%T'."
ABC network, on the other hand, is keen on defending The View's co-host. They released a statement saying, "We love Raven. She is confident, genuine, and opinionated, all qualities that make her a great addition to the panel."
