Monster Hunter X (Cross) for the Nintendo 3DS will be released on November 28, 2015 in Japan. However, fans in North America may have to wait a little bit.
Nintendo Life reporter Thomas Whitehead said, "Monster Hunter X (Cross) is only around a month away in Japan, which means those of us in the West can start getting jealous right about now. This new title will include a number of familiar elements from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, but will have plenty of different monsters, attack styles and new twists on various mechanics."
That being said, North American fans and the English speaking world may not have to wait for too long as previous English localized versions of Monster Hunter games were top money earners for Capcom. In fact, the previously released Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate got some of the highest reviews for a 3DS game. IGN, GamesRadar, Destructoid, Gamespot, and Nintento Life all gave the game a spectacular score of 9/10.
The Monster Hunter franchise have a similar appeal to that of Pokemon. It is a game with an anime series that makes it very appealing to the Otaku-type gamers.
Chris Samiana of Crossmap said that, "Monster Hunter is known to be the best hunting game on any hunting genre to date." Monster Hunter 4's success in North America and its popularity is enough prima facie evidence that the Cross will eventually get an English localization sooner rather than later.
Monster Hunter X will have a few returning monsters and a gameplay innovation called "Hunting Arts." Looking at face value, the graphics of Cross is not as impressive as other contemporary JRPGs like the latest Persona. However, Cross will have the classic hunting and monster capturing gameplay similar to Pokemon. Unlike Pokemon, though, Cross is not really meant to be played by younger kids due to the animated violence. Capcom, however, will also release a kid friendly game called Monster Hunter Stories.
A few days ago, YouTuber gaijin hunter released a juicy 29-minute video where he translates a full-length Famitsu article feauturing Monster Hunter X. The video had 37,526 views since the upload. Quite a testament to the popularity of the game franchise in the English speaking world.
