Tom Holland is set to play as the friendly web-slinging hero in the MCU in the upcoming Spider-Man solo film. Holland recently posted a photo which sparked speculations that the web-slinging hero's outing could be based on the 'Ultimate' series, while Jon Watts teased on Miles Morales' possible appearance.
Spider-Man is expected to debut in the MCU in the forthcoming Captain America: Civil War. However, his expected solo outing in 2017 has been the subject of many talks especially on how Marvel would present the hero once again in the big screen.
Holland recently posted a photo of his new hair cut in the photo sharing website, calling it the 'Johnny Depp Look'. However, as reported by Ecumenical News, the resemblance of his hairstyle to the Peter Parker in the 'Ultimate Spider-Man' was taken by many as a hint to a possible link of the movie to the comic series.
Moreover, as reported by International Business Times, director Jon Watts also dropped hints about the comic series when he revealed the possibility of Miles Morales' appearance in the film. But he also noted that that they are still working on the script, "I can't talk about that, because, you know, that will reveal too much. We're still writing the story. We haven't finished all the way through the story yet, so who knows", Watts said.
Meanwhile, actor Rhys Ifan, who played as Dr. Curt Connors in 'The Amazing Spider-Man', shared his opinions about the previous franchise saying that he wished for different kind of exploration on the characters.
When asked about his opinions on the upcoming Spider-Man Reboot, Ifan revealed what he thinks should be the focus of the film. "I have absolutely no opinion on it. No opinion.", he said as reported by Comic Book Movie. "I hope that when they reboot, there will be more emphasis on the 'boot' than the 're', because it needs a kick up the arse", Ifan added.
The currently untitled Spider-Man Reboot is set to be directed by Watts from screenplay written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein. Aside from Holland, Marisa Tomei is also on board to play as Aunt May. It is currently slated to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
