Lady Gaga has proven her worth as an actress. While she's already a famed music star with her unique style and music that's like fashion on its own, the "Applause" singer has recently earned her first acting nomination for her role as The Countess in American Horror Story.
Gaga, real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, was nominated for People's Choice Award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress. The 29-year old fashion-forward singer turned actress will go against Once Upon a Time's Ginnifer Goodwin and Jennifer Morrison, Outlander's Caitriona Balfe and Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke.
The TV series American Horror Story is a critically acclaimed show with a thespian appeal in which Lady Gaga perfectly fits. All the theatrical elements existing in AHS is not very different from Gaga's image and persona, thus receiving a role she excels at.
American Horror Story is an anthology series that was created by co-creators of Glee. While it's far from being like the musical series, this show has retold classic haunted house stories into a freaky tale of different characters living in different locations. AHS began with "Murder House" and has since continued to delve into creepier places like the Asylum, Circus Freak Show, Witch Coven and now a Hotel.
The music icon plays The Countess on AHS. Her character is a demonic creature that lives off on sex and blood. After gaining the hotel from its past resident, Countess Elizabeth has since resided in the place for decades, ruling the place with her over the top outfits paired with a deadly chain mail glove.
In past interviews, Gaga has revealed her love for her role and the show. She claims that she's having so much fun portraying the 100-year-old, blood-sucking character. All the more, her actor fiancé Taylor Kinney gives his utmost support to "Poker Face" songstress decision to take the role and join the acting industry.
But whether Gaga wins or not, all things are looking good in the star's professional and personal life.
The 2016 People's Choice Awards will be held on Jan. 6, 2016.
