‘Dishonored 2’ Official Release Remains Ambiguous as Hinted by Trailer and Release Photo

By

Bethesda has initially announced the official release of Dishonored 2 by the Spring of 2016, as also announced by its official Facebook page through a release photo which displays the game title with "Spring 2016" at the bottom. After a while, however, the caption was changed to merely "2016".

Rumors tell that Bethesda may not be able to meet the planned release and there is even a bigger question whether Bethesda would continue the franchise, as the company faces quite a lot of projects at the moment. In addition, Master Herald reports that despite the doubts surrounding the game's release, fans still speculate on the possible improvements of the game. This includes gameplay changes, improvement in the game's stealth aspect, and more choices for players on how they want to approach to any situation.

In addition, the trailer released for Dishonored 2 involved mostly of cinematics. No gameplay clips or even screenshots were included in the video. iDigital Times is of the opinion that a game which is almost complete usually includes its gameplay with the teaser video. However, the site further commented that such delay may have been a smart move for Bethesda so as to allow for less competition and for Arkane Studios to have a longer time for polishing.

The game's development was actually first hinted during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) by Matty Schoeder, a YouTube user. From a presentation of the game's Co-Director, Harvey Smith, he was seen talking to Arkane Studios President Ralph Colantonio about what seemed to be regarding a game sequel. Christian Post reported that later on they both announced the development of an upcoming game, which turned out to be Dishonored 2.

However, fans have been concerned that the trailer and the Facebook photo suggested a delay of Dishonored 2's release. Such delay may be the developers' strategy of steering away from competition with Uncharted 4, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, as well as Bethesda's own DOOM. Nevertheless, what is left to be certain for the game is its 2016 release.
