Instagram has tossed out reports claiming that the social media company is creating a system for interactive advertising through the use of 3D touch and Apple Pay.
Rumours that were spread late last week have been proven to be nothing more than rumours. According to Phone Arena, an Instagram spokesperson has released a statement by saying that the mobile commerce is definitely a space that the company is "looking at closely." However, the concept of using 3D Touch and Apple pay is not an idea that the social media developers are testing at this time.
The features spread throughout the web claiming that Instagram had been testing a new shopping experience that would allow its users to make purchases via Apple Pay without leaving the photo sharing application.
Furthermore, The Next Web shared that there were speculations that Apple's new 3D Touch would be integrated into that same shopping experience, by allowing users to look at various images of the product and applying different amounts of pressure to the screen. The website later shot this down with an update from the spokesperson of Instagram.
According to The Verge, Instagram is walking on a fine line with ad efforts, as most recent initiatives proved to be too intrusive, given the difficulty of making sponsored entries look more organic than the hard sells they appear like today. The company does continue to find and develop ways to introduce advertising efforts to the mobile-based social media network.
Apple fans will remember that with the launch of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus' new features, such as the implementation of 3D touch. The feature would allow the phone to read taps as different gestures through the amount of pressure, whether heavy pressing or light pressing.
Though many developers are thinking of ways to maximize this new and innovative mobile experience solution, Instagram is not one of them yet.
