5 Seconds of Summer's Michael Clifford is all right, but will need to use crutches for a few days. The Australian guitarist took a dive during the Radio 1 Teen Awards last Sunday, November 8.
In a video caught by BBC Radio 1, Clifford fell into a pit on stage after he miscalculated a jump with his instrument at hand. Fans were shocked for a few seconds, but cheered on when Clifford was able to get up and continue the performance.
"I was looking at Rita Ora and I was like... 'hey' and I fell," Clifford jokingly explained to Radio 1 as to how he fell.
After the accident, Clifford released all of his frustrations and assured all the fans that he would be okay. Clifford posted a series of tweets as reported by Hollywood Life. "WHY DO I ALWAYS HURT MYSELF," he first tweeted. "All good geezers. On crutches for the next few days. Don't look at me funny pls lolz. Thanks radio 1 for having us! Wembley Arena doesn't like me."
The band 5 Seconds of Summer performed their latest single Hey Everybody at Wembley Arena during the awards night. This was done in order to promote their latest LP, Sounds Good Feels Good. The awards night also featured performances from Little Mix, Nick Jonas, All Time Low, Demi Lovato, and a surprise performance from Justin Bieber.
It seems that Clifford is accident prone during performances, because this is not the first time that Clifford has had an accident on stage. According to In Touch Weekly, Clifford accidentally walked into a pyrotechnic display that ignited his half of his face and hair on flames at a gig last June. It should also be noted that the accident occurred in the same place as the Radio 1 Teen Awards. He posted a picture of his bandaged up face and burned hair online.
