Seculert conducted a Series B round and raised funds amounting to US$10 million. The round was from Sequoia Capital and would be used for its advanced protection technology.
Norwest Venture Partners, which was an existing investor, joined in the Series B round. Seculert now has a total of US$15.4 million in funding.
Seculert, which initially received seed funding from YL Ventures, represented the new emerging model of IT security. The company's advanced threat protection technology was designed to prevent malware attacks. The new technology looked at relationships in data coming from different sources, instead of protecting end points, to find network threats.
The firm's technology allowed discovery of previously undetected malware attacks. It created an "elastic data net" that served to detect network back doors and monitored botnet traffic. The service looked for the IP addresses of a customer in the botnet itself and flags an upcoming attack if the IP address was discovered.
