Peter Gallagher will be guest starring in an upcoming episode of "New Girl" Season 5. According to TV Line, Gallagher will be portraying the character of Schmidt's (Max Greenfield) never-before-seen father. However, Gallagher's character will only appear on a single episode. On the other hand, Schmidt's previously-introduced mother (Nora Dunn) will not be appearing on the said episode.
Unfortunately, Damon Wayans Jr. who portrays the character of Coach didn't renew his contract for season 5. Executive producer Liz Merwiether discusses about Damon's exit with Movie Pilot, "We love Damon and are so lucky to have had him return for the past season-and-a-half. We are working on crafting an exit for him that will leave the door open for many returns, especially since Coach is our resolution to the upcoming Who's Jess' baby daddy? storyline."
Elsewhere, "New Girl" star Zooey Deschanel who is currently on maternity leave recently converted to Judaism for her husband Jacob Pechenik, a producer. US Weekly reports that Zooey converted to the new religion just before getting married. Deschanel also shared how her parents raised her up with a belief that she can be whatever she wants to be when it comes to religion.
