Hyrule Warriors Legends: More Playable Characters Added; Tetra Gets Gameplay Video

Upcoming 3DS exclusive game Hyrule Warriors Legends will be getting more playable characters as it nears its Q1 2016 shipping date. The 3DS game will get King of Hyrule, Toon Link, Skull Kid, and Tetra.

The first game Hyrule Warriors was originally released for the Wii U. It was a system best-seller and got good reviews to start with. On the other hand, Hyrule Warriors is a Dynasty Warrior spin-off set in the Legend of Zelda universe.

Hyrule Warriors Legends is a 3DS port of the Wii U game. But this 3DS version will have new gameplay features and scenarios with characters from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Majora's Mask.

Characters that were announced a few days ago are Tetra, King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule, and Toon Link from Wind Waker. Then there is also Skull Kid from Majora's Mask.

An official video released by Nintendo shows a few gamplay elements. According to Siliconera the video showcased Tetra, the popular female pirate in Wind Waker.

Gameranx describes Tetra as, "...every bit the spunky and cheery pirate you hope she would be. Although she totes a pistol with her sword, Tetra seems to be mostly a melee fighter through and through. Her attacks strike in wide circles, and it seems she’s a really accessible character overall."

Hyrule Warriors is a brawler or beat 'em up in the tradition of Dynasty Warriors. It's safe to say that limiting Tetra's pistol is a sound decision to simplify balance and gameplay. That said, the video showed Tetra fighting a swarm of monsters with very little difficulty. The video also showed the character's powerful special attack that basically annihilated a whole platoon of bad guys in one shot.

This soon-to-be-released 3DS port will have a feature to transfer characters to the Wii U version as reported by Destructoid.

Hyrule Warriors Legends is a 3DS exclusive which is a collaboration between Koei Tecmo and Nintendo. The game is set to be released Q1 next year.
