Square Enix hopes to answer fan questions when they released an hour-long Star Ocean 5 live stream earlier today. The new game called Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness will be released on February 25, 2016 in Japan.
North American fans were left asking for more as the live stream was done solely in Japanese. The video stream is quite substantial, clocking in at a lengthy 1 hour and 22 minutes.
Siliconera enumerates the various game elements revealed in the video. Accordingly, there will be fast travel, a kind of achievement system for item completion, the ability to craft items even in the field, and bonus BGM tracks.
It can be recalled that Square Enix revealed Star Ocean a few months ago during the Tokyo Game Show. According to Push Square, Star Ocean 5 was far from finished during that time, but the live stream showed how far along the game is developing. "In fact, the game's looking pretty great right now on the PlayStation 4, as evidenced by the footage that we've embedded. Part of a Square Enix livestream, there's almost an hour of gameplay to gaze upon, which includes general exploration, menu navigation, and battles with tough looking monsters."
Tri-Ace is still the developer of Star Ocean 5, while Square Enix is still the publisher. The game development studio started both Star Ocean and Tales of Phantasia during the latter part of the Super Nintendo's life cycle. Both games were ahead of its time as Tri-Ace managed to fit in voiceovers in the SNES cart. The gameplay for both games were also not the typical JRPG turn-based fair, but rather real-time combat like a beat 'em up.

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness is a PlayStation exclusive and will ship next year. Japan will get the game February next year, while North American fans will have to wait for a localized release.
