Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Arrives to Moto X Pure 2015 and 2nd Gen Moto X Units

Motorola smartphone owners will now have every reason to hang on to their handsets. Motorola announced today Android 6.0 Marshmallow update arriving specifically to Moto X Pure 2015 and to 2nd Gen Moto X smartphones, respectively.

Cory Gunther of Gotta BE Mobile reported that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update would be for the Moto X Style. Moto X Style is also Moto X Pure Edition outside of the United States. Gunther added that the United States will be expecting to receive the update soon. He likewise stated in the report that Moto X Pure Edition users in the USA will expect to receive the update before the end of November.

Brazil and India, on the other hand, will be receiving the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow via OTA (over-the-air) starting today. In addition to this, 2nd Gen Moto X smartphones users in Brazil will also be receiving the update, Gunther inserted.

Quoting Motorola's David Schuster, Gunther wrote that most of the changes and new features included in the update are Memory Manager, Permission Controls, Doze for battery life, Volume Controls, Do-Not-Disturb modes, Google Now on Tap, Automatic app/data backup, and many more. Schuster also said that both Moto X Style and Pure Edition run nearly stock Android making the Marshmallow update worth the wait, Gunther ended.

More into Motorola 6.0 Marshmallow update, additional Motorola smartphones will also be included in the anticipated Android 6.0 rollout.

According to Anvinraj Sivanandan of International Business Times, the following handsets are slated for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, to wit: Moto G 4G LTE (2nd Gen), Moto G (Gen 2), Droid Turbo, Moto Maxx, and Moto Turbo. Moto E might not receive the update, however, since the said device does not have sufficient internal storage for installing the most recent Android operating system, Sivanandan pointed out.

Sivanandan also added that existing features like Moto Assist, Moto Migrate, and Google Chrome extension support via Motorola Connect will no longer be included in the 6.0 Marshmallow update.

Sivanandan ended his report by stating Android 6.0 update will use up at least 500 MB of storage space.

And lastly for the anticipated 6.0 Marhsmallow update for Motorola, non-inclusion of older Motorola models in the Android OS update might cause furor to their users.

Latino Post reported this decision would force older Motorola model users to purchase newer ones to take advantage of the 6.0 Marshmallow update. One of these older modes is the Moto E.

Latino Post quoted Phil Nickinson of Android Central as saying "stop selling the Moto E if the company cannot commit to upating it". "Low-end or not, " Nickinson continued, "it's (Moto E) has already reached the end of its life insofar as the software is concerned and that's unacceptable for one that had regained so much goodwill as Motorola has is the past several years", Latino Post ended as Nickinson stating.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to current Motorola handsets, Moto X Pure Edition and 2nd Gen Moto X smartphones, brings both good news and bad news to Motorola users.

Latest Motorola handset users will be experiencing enhanced Android OS features while older model users will be left behind forcing them to purchase new ones.

Motorola, in its long history of goodwill and of manufacturing of high-quality mobile phones to its clients, should take strides in assuring that their older phone models will at least benefit as well with the latest Android OS.

Forcing older Motorola phone model users to replace their handsets with the latest ones might just prove to be an overkill though necessary.
