‘Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur’ Cast, News: Guy Richie thinks good guys are 'boring'; Charlie Hunnam beefs up for 'King Arthur' role

'Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur' is an upcoming reboot of the story of King Arthur. Director Guy Richie revealed that his version will be grittier since he thinks good guys are "boring". Leading man Charlie Hunnam, who plays a darker version of King Arthur, revealed his exercise routine to get into shape for his newest role.

According to Entertainment Weekly, director Guy Richie expressed his ideas about why certain reboots of the Arthurian tale didn't have the mainstream appeal expected of them. He said, "I think where the pitfall has often been is trying to make King Arthur bland and nice, and nice and bland. The two qualities make rather compatible bed companions... Unfortunately, they're not interesting to watch." He went on to say bluntly that good guys were "boring".

The 47-year old English filmmaker revealed that his take on the classic legend will involve a personification of King Arthur as far from noble. According to Movie News Guide, Richie's vision of Arthur is one of a streetwise orphan - a survivor and most notably, a "hustler". 'Sons of Anarchy' and 'Pacific Rim' leading man Charlie Hunnam will star in the titular role.

It was reported by the Inquisitr that Richie thought Hunnam was too slim to play Arthur so the actor decided to bulk up. He revealed that he wanted to incorporate UFC's Conor McGregor's fighting style into his exercise regimen in order to achieve the physique needed to play the legendary king. Hunnam admitted to spending hours on YouTube watching footage of McGregor on the arena and learning his techniques.

'Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur' is an upcoming action-adventure film directed by Guy Richie. It is scheduled to be released on July 22, 2016 and stars Charlie Hunnam as Arthur, Jude Law as Vortigen, Eric Bana as Uther Pendragon, Astrid Berges-Firsbey as Guinevere and Annabelle Wallis as Maid Maggie. It is a story of Arthur's origin as an orphaned Londoner who discovers his royal lineage after procuring Excalibur.
