Charlie Sheen has opened up on the HIV rumors that the actor has been wound up in over the last few weeks, and confirmed he is HIV positive. The 50-year-old actor addressed the rumors in an exclusive tell all, where he explained the real story and what's really been going on with him behind closed doors.
According to a report from BBC, Charlie Sheen has confirmed he is HIV positive. The former actor of 'Two And A Half Men' sat down with Today's Matt Laurer and revealed, "I am here to admit that I am HIV positive." "I have to put a stop to this onslaught, this barrage of attacks and of sub-truths," Charlie said, before adding that he was diagnosed with the disease four years ago.
The father of five then went on to explain how he'd opened up to friends who he believed he could trust, but was left devastated after being blackmailed to pay up cash or they would go to press with the news.
Washington Post also added on the situation and explained how the once highest paid actor on television is currently struggling with financial matters after paying up millions to keep his secret private. Apparently, Sheen also admitted how depression over his condition led him to go off the rails as he struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. Prostitutes was also an addiction the actor found himself trapped in; however, he assured everyone how all his previous partners knew of his condition, and that the right medication and procedures were taken to ensure he wouldn't pass the HIV along.
In another report from Entertainment Tonight, it was revealed that Hollywood insiders already knew of Sheen's situation. Apparently, Hollywood publicist Howard Bragman was informed by a close friend of the actor, but was assured he was getting treatment and was being given the best medical advice.
Now that Charlie Sheen has confirmed his situation, the actor is expecting various lawsuits to be filed upon him by various prostitutes he used in the past. Nonetheless, the actor and his doctor are ready to fight against any complaints as Sheen revealed there is no way he could have passed on the HIV as all the proper precautions were used.
