Travel booking provider Groupize receives US$2 million

Groupize, a travel booking engine provider, announced on Wednesday that it received US$2 million is Series A funding. Golden Seeds led the investment round, while Launchpad Venture Group also participated in the financing.

Past rounds of investment saw prominent travel industry firms make investments in Groupize, including Gregg Brockway, co-founder of Hotwire, Scott Hintz and Andy Denmark, co-founders of Triplt. Mike Fuller of Wandrian also gave his support in the travel platform.

Groupize provides automated group hotel booking services targeting vacationers and group travelers. Their enterprises include interactive systems for larger group planning. The company said that the business is growing due to the lack of competition.

Previously, arranging travel for groups of 25 or more was time-consuming and stressful, said the company. "The group hotel opportunity is large and complex, and others have failed at automating it," explained Groupize Chief Executive Officer Charles de Gaspe Beaubien.

"Over the last two years, we've developed solutions that exceed and overcome the current inefficiencies of the RFP process for both group planners and hotels. After learning from the painful lessons of the past, we are poised to automate and transform the small groups experience for the industry," he explained further.
