The latest technology is introducing many of the new features embedded in vehicles to enhance the convenience of the drivers. Ford may not be the first but also not the last one, has also marked its position in the list of advanced technology vehicles.
According to The Verge, recently at this week's LA Auto Show, Ford revealed the introduction of Sync Connect technology, a new LTE-based service to its new model, 2017 Escape (which is also debuting this week).
However, 2017 Escape is not the first car introduced by Ford with cellular connectivity. Vehicles like plug-in hybrids and Lincoln models also offer the same technology, but this announcement represents a much larger utilization.
The 2017 Escape is very much a mainstream vehicle for the company, and other mainstream vehicles will follow. "As you might expect with Ford, our intent is to democratize technology and make it broadly available," Don Butler, Ford's director of connected vehicle and services, told The Verge. "The announcement for us is the beginning of a broader deployment of Sync Connect capability across our vehicles and across the globe."
The app technology enables the owners of supported vehicles to start and remotely lock, unlock their car and start their cars, as mentioned by Techradar. This technology will prove to be beneficial especially for the ones living in extreme climates, whether cold or hot. Before hopping into the car, the drivers can warm up or cool down the interior of their cars by scheduling remote starts with the app.
Furthermore, via the SYNC Connect Smartphone app, the owners can easily locate the car if the parking spot is forgotten. (It can happen to the best of us on rough days or in unfamiliar places.) SYNC Connect can also report on your car's health, including fuel levels, oil life, battery and tire pressure.
As reported by Android Headlines, Ford isn't the first one, but also not the last one, to think of incorporating LTE in cars, as General Motors are labelled as the founder of this idea and now, they are in partnership with AT&T (AT&T adds around a million cars to their network each quarter).
Along with Sync Connect, Ford included five years of free service. However, Ford doesn't predict the future after those five years, but for most of us, that five years should be enough to cover the time we'll have the car, especially if we lease it from the dealer. The app to connect with Sync Connect comes along with multiple features Including viewing vehicle diagnostics, parking location and so much more and is available both on iOS and Android.
The new feature, 4G LTE has become a fashion need and a necessity. Following AT&T, along with GM's Chevrolet, the competition between other carriers as well as manufacturers will tend to rise.
