Microsoft has been pretty much quiet about possible upcoming models they plan on releasing other than what they announced in October. But a recent report suggests that the company is indeed prepping up some new models, with their testing now underway.
A report was published on Monday by Nokia and Windows Phone site Nokia Power User, claiming that a purported upcoming Lumia phone, the Lumia 750 is now undergoing testing in India in time for a release that is said to be within a mid-December to early January timeframe.
Citing sources, the site also reports that two other Lumia phones, the Lumia 850 and the Lumia 650, is also undergoing testing though it would be released at a later date, possibly around February-March.
Rumors of a Lumia 750 have been going around since July this year. Phone Arena reports that this rumored phone would have a 720 x 1280 HD display, 1.2 quad-core processor, 8 GB internal storage which is expandable with a microSD card, and an 8 MP main camera, among others.
The Lumia 850 on the other hand would have have a 760 x 1280 HD display, 1.4 quad-core processor, 10 GB internal storage expandable with a microSD card, and a 10 MP main camera. The Lumia 650 is seen to be on the lower midrange end, as it will reportedly have a 720p display and an 8 MP main camera.
Officially, Microsoft has so far only announced the Lumia 550, 950, and 950 XL in their slate of future phone releases with the Lumia 550 serving the midrange market. These models were first announced during Microsoft's Windows 10 devices event last October 6.
But as Digital Trends noted in its report, this does not mean the rumored Lumia 650, 750, and 850 have been cancelled or erased from existence, though the announcement may not be around the corner for now.
A check at the Windows 10 Mobile page shows a note saying that more devices will be available soon, especially those that will support Windows Hello, the iris-scanning security technology Microsoft has built in to its current premium smartphone models Lumia 950 and 950 XL. It is not clear yet though if Windows Hello would be built in the rumored Lumia phones as well.
