'Transformers 5' is an upcoming science-fiction action film scheduled to be released some time in 2017. Hasbro recently unveiled the film's logo and revealed that the franchise is planning multiple sequels, television shows and spin-offs. Akiva Goldsman will not be penning the script as he will supervise 'G.I. Joe' and 'Micronauts' instead.
According to Comic Book.com, American toy company Hasbro revealed what looked to be the fifth film's logo tied in with the franchise's product line. The new logo provided by Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner and CFO Deborah Thomas during Investor's Day is considered a placeholder. It remains unknown whether the placeholder logo will be the same as the official version.
Another article by Moviepilot reported that a series of new developments will follow after the release of 'Transformers 5' including multiple sequels, spinoffs as well as television shows. Paramount Pictures recruited a group of writers to brainstorm over ideas for the future of the franchise. Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman spearheaded the collaboration.
Goldman received his Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the 2001 film 'A Beautiful Mind' starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany. He also wrote for several blockbuster films including 'The Divergent Series: Insurgent', 'The Da Vinci Code', 'Angels & Demons' and 'Cinderella Man'. He also served as producer for 'Hancock', 'I Am Legend', 'Poseidon' and 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith'.
It was previously announced that Goldsman would be writing the screenplay for the fifth installment in the science-fiction franchise but Collider reported otherwise. New developments led to negotiations for Art Marcum and Art Halloway of 'Iron Man' and Ken Nolan of 'Black Hawk Down' to pen the script since Goldsman is now tasked at supervising two new writers' rooms for other cinematic adaptations. The two new planned adaptations based on toy properties are 'G.I. Joe' and 'Micronauts'.
