'It' will feature Will Poulter as the villainous Pennywise the clown. Filming for the remake of the original 1990's film based on Stephen King's horror novel of the same name will begin in summer 2016.
According to Bloody Disgusting, director Andy Muschietti will be pushing through with principal photography for the upcoming remake of the classic psychological horror film based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. Filming is set to begin in summer 2016. Muschietti replaced original director Cary Fukunaga who exited the project after allegedly clashing with New Line Cinema.
Meanwhile, Fukunaga explained his sudden departure from the planned remake was not due to financial constraints as previously reported. According to Variety, the 38-year old filmmaker revealed that he disagreed with New Line Cinema over the direction of the story.
Fukunaga said, "I was trying to make an unconventional horror film... Our budget was perfectly fine... It was the creative that we were really battling... They didn't want any characters. They wanted archetypes and scares. I wrote the script. They wanted me to make a much more inoffensive, conventional script. But I don't think you can do proper Stephen King and make it inoffensive."
Fukunaga signed on for 'It' back in 2012 where he wrote the script with Chase Palmer. He planned on making two separate movies with a budget of $32 million. He added that every little idea he has was rejected despite already spending millions in pre-production.
The original psychological horror film revolved around a shape shifting entity that takes on the form of Pennywise, the dancing clown. Outcast kids, members of the Losers Club, take it upon themselves to track down and destroy the creature. English stage, television and theater actor Tim Curry played the villainous role of Pennywise.
According to the Independent, Will Poulter of 'Chronicles of Narnia' and 'Maze Runner' fame is set to take on Pennywise. The young actor is set to star in the upcoming biographical Western film 'The Revenant' alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. Poulter was also awarded the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2014.
'It' is an upcoming horror film based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. It is a reboot of the 90's cult classic centered on a malicious shapeshifting entity that torments its victims by exploiting their existing phobias. The original film starred Richard Thomas, John Ritter, Annette O'Toole, Richard Masur, Olivia Hussey and Tim Curry.
