Fifty Shades Darker May Include More Risque Scenes; Dakota Johnson open to doing anything

By

Filming has not even begun yet, but fans are already clamoring for news on the "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel, "Fifty Shades Darker". While it's clear on the February 10, 2017 release date, fans will still have to wait for other details like the actors who are going to play the roles of Mrs. Robinson, Leila Williams, and Jack Hyde. The most recent updates available include James Foley taking on the role of director after Sam Taylor Johnson left the helm, and main leads Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan reprising their roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.

In an interview with People, Dornan expressed his excitement on revealing more about his charming and suave character Christian Grey, as well as his darker proclivities. While in her interview with Elle magazine, Johnson reveals she is basically open to doing anything in the film. She also digresses what inspired her to take on the role of Anastasia Steele, citing her interest in the characters' emotional developments rather than the steamy sex scenes themselves. Johnson was so drawn to the idea that a woman can be the very thing that can break a man down. These statements have only provoked rumors of more nudity and explicit sex scenes in the upcoming sequel.

Fans will still have to wait on a film rating verdict. According to Latin Post, it is unlikely that the film will have an NC-17 rating, since Universal Pictures would run the risk of showing the highly anticipated sequel to a very limited audience. On the other hand, there is also the possibility of exploring more risque sex scenes than the first movie, which had an R rating, if production is to stick more closely to the original source material.

Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker are based on the same-titled bestseller books by E.L. James. Niall Leonard, James' husband, takes on the screenplay adaptation. E.L. James, Dana Brunetti, and Michael De Luca continue as producers. Film production of "Fifty Shades Darker" resumes in January 2016, and filming location is still in Vancouver, Canada.
