The action is amping up in 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.LD.' as it reaches its midseason finale. Longtime viewers, who had stuck with the show through three seasons of lackluster reviews and struggling ratings, feel that it's about time. Though the show was one of the first superhero series to launch in recent years, it has since been overtaken by new arrivals 'Flash' and 'Supergirl' whose exploits are drawing critical acclaim and a growing number of loyal fans.
Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his fellow agents at S.H.I.EL.D may finally come head to head with the international terrorist organization, Hydra. It just might turn out ot be their last stop in their efforts to track down their revenge-driven ex-colleague, Ward (Brett Dalton), who has switched sides. Help might come from an unlikely source, as the Inhumans explore a shaky alliance with S.H.I.E..L.D. Their newest recruit; the superfast Slingshot.
the latest recap of Entertainment Weekly, 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D''s Season 3 Episode 9 starts with a bang, as Ward fatally guns down Rosalind, Coulson's lady love, just as the couple are having dinner. Ward taunts Coulson that he'd like to make him feel the misery of losing a loved one.
This just might make it more personal for the the S.H.I.E.L.D. boss. The International Business Times also mentions one twist - this hunt might beocme a one-man quest for justice as the usually unflappable Coulson goes off on his own.
And regardless of how that battle turns out, more superpowered humans are waiting in the wings, and thankfully they're on the side of the angels. Screenrant reports that Natalia Cordova-Buckley has already been cast as the Inhuman speedster, Slingshot.
Coulson and his gang can use all the help that they can get, now that it appears that Hydra will be showing its full face - and force - after mid-season. Episode 10 entitled 'Maveth' air the escalating conflict on December 8 on ABC.
