A new report released today shows that the music streaming app, Spotify is currently leading chart as the most used music streaming app in the world.
The report released by an analytic firm known as App Annie shows that Pandora Radio, the app that has been leading the industry for a long time falls in the second place.
The report shows that the app managed to top Pandora in terms of active users, revenue and download thanks to its great functionality and affordable price of only $9.99 per month.
Business Insider said that the analytic firm, App Annie predicted that based on current trends, Spotify will continue to increase the gap between other rivals.
Although the company is dominating globally, it still unable to improve its ranking for the United States.
According to Billboard, Pandora is still the leading music streaming service for both iOS and Android users as the company has the advantage with its low price.
App Annie noted that among the main reason why Spotify able to dominate the chart is due to its offline download library capabilities. The feature has been the most used by users globally who prefer to listen to their favorite artist on demand even without internet connection.
This is because the internet connection in another part of the world is still at a developing stage hence more users prefer to have their song ready in their smartphone only.
Data compiled by TechCrunch shows that people under the age of 25 in the US alone use 15 percent more mobile data compared to the one age between 25 and 45.
This shows that users in the US still prefer to listen to the song online hence the Pandora service which provides interactive and non-interactive radio streaming is favored.
Although the feature provided by Spotify cause many famous artists like Taylor Swift and Adelle not to give Spotify the right to have their song on the service, users are still using the services. This is because the song library contains inside Spotify with both international and local artists makes the service more appealing.
Spotify is also currently continually to improve its service including its latest update which allow smartphone users to link their running rhythm with the song list in the app.
Although there are more localize music streaming services might be entering the market in the future, the company is optimistic that it will stay relevant. Currently, there are 74 million active listeners on the app and its "Discover Weekly" personalized playlist reached 1.7 billion streams in just 5 months.
