Young music artist, Becky G, recounts how she got the role for the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie. The 18-year-old reveals that she was just as surprised as her fans to know that she'll be playing yellow ranger for Lionsgate's anticipated film.
Becky G explains in an interview with Time that she had no idea she was auditioning for "Power Rangers" and simply tried out a few lines. The "Shower" singer said that her agent asked her to record a few lines when she was on tour and not closing any open opportunities she did as she was asked. It was only when she got the part that she learned her exact role which turns out to be a lead character to a popular franchise.
"I was excited! And when I was reading the lines, it felt cool, like the character. Later, she tells me that the director saw it and that he loved it and he would like to meet me," Becky G recounted. "It was between me and a couple other people, but I got the call that I was going to be the yellow Power Ranger. It just felt so right. Yellow is my favorite color, so I was like this is meant to be."
Though it isn't the first time Becky G tries the acting industry, having starred in guest roles on Disney's "Austin & Ally" and Fox series "Empire", this is ultimately her debut lead role as an actress.
While the young star is currently focusing on her music career, Becky G shared that she's been interested in acting way back before and saw herself involved in this industry, but she decided to establish herself as a music artist first. Now, she's excited to realize her ideal career plan.
"Power Rangers" is set to begin filming next year in Vancouver Canada and is expected for a 2017 release.
