A recent leak of Samsung's roadmap for the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow was spotted in Times News. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ have been revealed as the first devices to receive the update this December.
A report from pocket-lint has stated that the first phase of Samsung handsets that will receive the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in December 2015 are the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, on the other hand, are slated in the January 2016 update.
The last batch to receive the Marshmallow update in the first phase is the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge which is scheduled for February. As for the second phase, it includes the Samsung Galaxy A8, A7, A5, A3, E7 and E5. Nevertheless, this phase has no timeline as of now, Androidpit noted.
According to Latin Post, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5m which is a phablet flagship from Samsung in 2015 seems to be receiving the Android M very soon. That is if the rumors founded on a leak are true. The leaked document showed the Galaxy Note 5 with a model number SM-N920G.
The document was reported to have a date stamp of Nov. 15, 2015 with a status marked as "uploading," which is unconfirmed whether the Galaxy Note 5 update is done yet. Despite that, it provides a good hint that Samsung is already in the late stages of the process of testing the upgrade.
The latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings several improvements to Google's mobile OS under the hood. The "Doze" mode, which performs a power-saving mode that kicks in if the phone is recognized idle, more granular control over individual app approvals by default, as well as the return of "Silent" mode are the new features included in this update.
It is already known that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be in the first phase to receive the Android Marshmallow update as well as the devices included for the second phase. The third phase, on the other hand, is still unclear if what set of devices will be placed here.
