A document from a video game rating board in Taiwan has revealed that the PC game "Dirt Rally" will arrive for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, developer Codemasters has not yet confirmed if a console version of the game is really in the works.
News about the possible arrival of the game on Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles was first spotted by Twitter user lifelower. Even though the listing was typed in Mandarin, it clearly features the terms PS4 and Xbox One, which strongly indicates that the game has been rated for these consoles.
Although Codemasters has not yet officially announced the development of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of "Dirt Rally," the recently leaked listing could be the sign that fans of the racing game have been waiting for. After all, immediately after the PC game launched on Steam, an executive from the studio teased about the inevitable arrival of the game on consoles.
"If I'm brutally honest I think people will feel that it's slightly unfair that we're not allowing it on to console just yet, but I'm set on putting this out on console eventually," Paul Coleman, Codemasters' chief game designer told Eurogamer.
"I think that it's right, at this early stage, is to pack it and tweak it and introduce those things that fans will be asking for that we don't know they want yet," he continued.
The game officially debuted as a Microsoft Windows game on April 27, 2015, through Steam's Early Access. According to the game's Steam page, the game focuses on rally racing and currently has a total of 17 playable cars. The developer noted that eventually, the roster of "Dirt Rally" will be expanded to feature new car models and classes.
For its gameplay mechanics, Codemasters explained that "Dirt Rally" uses a news physics model that was developed with the help of experts from the real-world field of rallying racing. Through this new model, the game's creators were able to boost the realism of the virtual rally cars' overall handling and performance.
