Many fans of the Street Fighter franchise rejoiced when they heard that not only was the Street Fighter V Beta returning, but that new Street Fighter V controllers were also announced.
According to IGN, on December 1, the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of the Street Fighter V Beta received an update, bringing the beta version up to 1.06, which was worth about 2.26 GB of content downloads. And while the game is still closed, Street Fighter V's third beta phase will reportedly return on December 17th and run through December 20th, according to an advertisement on the PlayStation Store. The only concrete proof of the date is a screencap from the PlayStation Store posted by IGN, and IGN is still awaiting response for confirmation from Capcom as of this writing.
Aside from this, the Street Fighter 5 Controllers are now available for preorder on the Mad Catz website. The pricing for preorder is posted on the website, and it shows the Street Fighter V TE2+ and TE-S+ FightSticks are for USD230 and USD200, respectively, while the FightStick Alpha and the FightPad PROs are for USD80 and USD60, respectively. According to the Mad Catz page for the controllers, the TE-S+ and TE2 FightSticks will have fully functional touchpads and L3 and R3 buttons added to the original 8 button panel. The controllers will also be fully compatible with the PS3 as well as PS4, meaning players would be able to play late-gen fighting games with the new controllers.
At this point, the Capcom-Unity blog reveals that all fifteen characters that were announced for the game, including Dhalsim, Karin, Rashid, and Laura will be playable, with six more characters to be released within the first year of the game's release and one more new character to be revealed in the future.
The full Street Fighter V game will be released on February 16, 2016 for PC and PS4, and is available for preorder on Amazon, GameStop, Steam, Playstation Network, and Best Buy. The beta is available to everyone who preorders the full game, or to those who sign up for the beta on the Street Fighter website.
