‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’ updates & gameplay: ‘Baba Yaga’ DLC to arrive in early 2016 for Xbox consoles

Microsoft has confirmed that the first DLC for "Rise of the Tomb Raider," titled "Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch" will arrive early next year. Based on the upcoming content update's description on the Xbox Wire, the DLC will add a horror-themed storyline to the game's campaign.

As noted by Microsoft, the content update will pit series protagonist Lara Croft against the Baba Yaga, a witch-looking creature from Slavic folklore. Through the DLC, gamers will be able to explore a new world set within a forbidden forest in Siberia.

In the recently released trailer for "Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch", Croft can be seen wandering through a mysterious forest and taking on new sets of enemies. The clip even showed the Baba Yaga's hut walking across the land using its two gigantic chicken legs, just like in the folklore.

Aside from a fresh environment to explore, those who will get the upcoming DLC will also receive a new bow and outfit for Croft. In addition, the content update will offer hours of gameplay centered on the mystery surrounding the Baba Yaga.

Microsoft did not mention an exact release date for "Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch" DLC but noted that it will come out at the beginning of 2016. According to IGN, the company will probably launch the DLC sometime in January. Those who purchased the Season Pass of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" for the Xbox consoles will immediately receive the content update once it is released.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider," which is the sequel to 2013's "Tomb Raider" reboot, officially came out on Nov. 10, 2015, for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. The game is expected to debut for the PC during the first quarter of next year. PlayStation 4 owners, on the other hand, can expect to get their hands on the game during the last months of 2016.
