Brits infanticipate together with the Royals

The anticipation as to the first child for Prince William and Kate Middleton has reached fever pitch. Amongst the major beneficiaries to the excitement are bookmakers and retail sellers, as more and more Britons are increasing their spending as well.

This is one of the biggest stories about the British royals for the past few years, after the fairy tale wedding that was held hust a while back. The ripple effect of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's first born has been so large, that estimates place the economic boost in the neighborhood of US$400 million.

The retail sales market has, according to the Nottingham, England based Center for Retail Research, has reached about GBP243 million or US$367 million just for July and August alone. Other revenues generated would be additional business due to the festivities, which the research projects to be another GBP87 million or US$131 million. The sales woul focus mainly on sales of champagne and sparkling wine to celebrate the birth to the third in line to the British royal throne. Other sales can come from royals and baby related books and paraphernalia.

The center reported, "We expect plenty of people, not necessarily fervent royalists, to welcome the happy event in a demonstrative way."
