Shailene Woodley will join Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman in an HBO limited series adaptation of "Big Little Lies." This is based from a best-selling novel with the same title written by Liane Moriarty.
This darkly comic 2014 drama book revolves around three mothers of kindergarteners whose perfect and story book lives fall apart to the point of murder. According to Refinery29, the "Divergent" star is reportedly going to play the role of a single mother named Jane in the series.
Variety also reported that casting Woodley in the show has been the buzz for quite some time. She has not officially closed her deal, though. Also, HBO has not confirmed her participation in the said project so far.
But despite all these, Kidman already announced Woodley's involvement in the series during the Hindustan Times Leadership Project in New Delhi. Apparently, the "Moulin Rouge" actress is also a producer of the show. She added that the three of them will start to shoot in January.
Kidman and the "Legally Blonde" star optioned the "Big Little Lies" book rights together through Blossom Films and Pacific Standard Films, which are their respective production companies. David E. Kelly also gets to join the all-girls team as he will co-executive produce the series as well as write a number of episodes to which, no one is still certain of how many. Kelly is the man behind the American comedy series Ally McBeal and The Practice.
Meanwhile, fans will not only be able to catch the "The Fault In Our Stars" actress in TV screens next year. She will also be starring in the Edward Snowden biopic entitled "Snowden" together with actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, says The Wrap. In addition, Woodley will be seen in the famous book adaptation film "Allegiant," which is the third installment in the Divergent series.
