Sony has confirmed that "MLB 16: The Show" will debut in March next year and will feature Josh Donaldson of the Toronto Blue Jays as its cover athlete. Also, the game can now be pre-ordered and is available in three different bundles.
According to Game Zone, Sony confirmed the release of the upcoming installment in the "MLB: The Show" series during the PlayStation Experience event held on December 5. Based on the tech giant's announcement, "MLB 16: The Show" will officially come out on March 29, 2016 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
Aside from confirming the game's launch date, Sony also unveiled the title's cover art which features Donaldson, the third baseman of the Blue Jays. As noted by Sports Net, Donaldson's appearance as the featured athlete of the upcoming game marks the first time that a Blue Jays player was chosen for the cover art of the North American version of an "MLB: The Show" title.
Sony also announced during the event that gamers can already begin pre-ordering the upcoming game. According to Bleacher Report, prices for the different bundles begin at $59.99 with the basic edition, which just comes with a copy of the game.
At $69.99, on the other hand, gamers, will be able to get their hands on the MVP version which comes with 31 MLB-based avatars for the PlayStation 4, 5,000 stubs, 10 standard packs, one sponsor pack, one Opening Day pack, and a special packaging and steel book. The most expensive bundle or the Digital Deluxe Edition is priced at $99.99. It comes with three Opening Day packs, a sponsor pack, 20 standard packs and 11,000 stubs. This version also comes with the same set of avatars as the MVP edition of the game.
As for its gameplay elements, "MLB 16: The Show" will come with a ShowTime feature that's similar to the Bullet Time mode of the third-person shooter "Max Payne." Like the latter, activating ShowTime will slow down the action of the game.
