"Sleepy Hollow" Season 3 may be cancelled in FOX due to its low household ratings. This is because the fans were upset about the producers' idea of killing Nicole Beharie's character, Abbie Mills. EP also talked about this matter and the ratings has also been elaborated.
According to Realty Today, "Sleepy Hollow" may be cancelled since the FOX series was moved to a Friday timeslot beginning in 2016. Rumor has it that any show that is moved in a highly dreaded Friday timeslot is in danger of being axed in a certain network.
It has also been reported that the re-scheduling has been made due to the low household ratings of its 3rd season. Similarly, the previous finale episode also received some negative remarks from fans who were disappointed by the possible death of Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie).
Speaking of Abbie Mills' death, executive producer Clifton Campbell told TV Line saying, "She makes the decision to save her sister and save Crane and what Team Witness was all about. We don't quite know where she goes. It's very disturbing to see her disappear in that way.
The astute viewer will notice that there have been things about the tree, the lair and the story we've been telling in the 1st half of the season that will suggest what fate Abbie may have met... It's going to be very daunting and very illuminating when we all realize what happened to her."
Regarding the ratings, TV Series Finale notes that "Sleepy Hollow" Season 3 only garnered an average of .94 in the demographic with a season-to-date average audience of 3.37 viewers.
"Sleepy Hollow" Season 3 is set to return on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. exclusively on FOX. "Sleepy Hollow" is an American supernatural drama TV series created by Alex Kurtzman, Robert Orci, Philip Iscove, and Len Wiseman.
