Cory Monteith, who plays Finn Hudson in FOX's hit comedy musical show "Glee", was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver on Sunday, according to police. The actor was 31 years old and was reportedly engaged to co-star Lea Michelle.

Medical examiners are set to conduct an autopsy on Monteith on Monday. Foul play was ruled out by the Vancouver police.

Monteith stayed at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, where he was discovered by staff members after failing to show up in his checkout time, said acting chief constable Doug LePard.

Closed circuit surveillance video showed the famous actor with other people exiting his hotel room on Friday night. He returned the next day alone, said LePard.

Monteith was the lead star of "Glee", a worldwide success in terms of ratings and popularity. During its initial season, the comedy and musical show gathered 9.77 million average viewers, followed by 10.11 million on its second season.

The television show was considered to be among the top 10 most profitable television shows in the United States. "Glee" ranked fourth, with an estimated US$2.8 million profit earned per hour.
