Dead tourism may be revived - Egyptians

By

Only a week after the military ouster of the Egyptian president, business owners in the country have already expressed their relief.

Previously, the tourism industry in Egypt was not in the most favorable condition. There are only a few tourists visiting the once hotspot pyramids. The small scale businesses in the region suffered due to this scarce influx of tourists. People who depend on tourism for income expressed their concern regarding the failure of the past administration.

However, in light of the exit of President Mohammen Mursi, business owners said that this might soon change.

"I'm smiling from ear to ear, even though we haven't seen a disaster for our business this bad in all our lives," said perfume shop owner Mohammed Khodar. He relies on pyramid visitors for money.

He said that under Mursi, the prices of almost all commodities rose to record highs. Tourists preferred to go to beaches, and not travel to the pyramids anymore, he said.

"We want a democracy that can help with tourism, not religious rule," he summed.
