Development studio The Creative Assembly has just unveiled new gameplay details regarding the campaign mode of "Total War: Warhammer." The developer explained that the upcoming strategy game will revolve around four main factions.
According to PC World, Creative Assembly recently held a preview demo for the latest installment in the "Total War" franchise. Although the full version of "Total War: Warhammer" wasn't revealed, the demo focused on some important details about the game.
One of these is the factions that players will be able to choose from. Unlike previous titles from the series, the upcoming game will feature four factions composed of the Greenskins, Dwarves, Vampire Counts and the Empire or humans.
The developer noted that each faction has a unique style of gameplay. For instance, the Greenskins, which are orcs, are more focused on an offensive style through their highly mobile units such as the Arachnarok spiders.
This faction also has a Raiding Stance mode which gamers can activate to place their units in a stationary position. While in this mode, gamers can send in reinforcements to bulk up their orc army and continue with the attack.
As a unique mode, this feature is only available for Greenskins. Likewise, other factions also have their own special features. The humans or Empire, for example, can deploy armored units such as the Steam Tanks. Also, the combat style of this faction is traditional like in previous "Total War" titles.
Aside from these four groups, Crossmap reported that the game will also have a fifth faction called the Chaos Warriors. However, gamers will not be able to play as Chaos Warriors unless they pre-order the game to get the free DLC featuring this faction.
But, even though the Chaos Warriors will not be a playable unit for some, this faction will still play a major role in the game. As noted by the developer in a forum post, the Chaos Warriors will serve as the main villain of the game's campaign mode.
"Total War: Warhammer" is scheduled to come out on April 28, 2016 for the Microsoft Windows, Linux and OS X platforms.
