Mariah Carey has now finally spoken about the long overdue comment she has made back in year 2000 indicating that she didn't know Jennifer Lopez. She says she was not trying to insult her and she was merely being honest.
Back in year 2000, legendary singer Mariah Carey was asked about her fellow divas at the time, Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez. According to Tech Times, during an interview with Carey at the times, she called out Beyoncé as nice and a good writer but when asked about Jennifer Lopez, she answered "I don't know her". Since then, her response to the question about Lopez has been used as great meme by the people on the internet over the years. Everybody else assumed at the time that her response was taken as an insult and that perhaps there was a feud between the two divas.
In a recent interview, Carey has finally talked about the said issue dating back 15 years ago. The topic was brought up when she was asked about what gifts her fans have made for her. She then shared about a shirt that a fan made with a quote that she said years ago. As reported by Billboard, she initially didn't say what the quite was but eventually gave in anyway. She admitted how the quote was about saying she didn't know Jennifer Lopez at the time. Carey said she was just being honest at the time and she didn't mean for it to be taken as an insult in any way.
Following the statement that she gave out back then, there were speculations that Carey said she would rather be onstage with a pig than with Lopez. However, these rumours were never proven to be true. Carey said that she doesn't have a feud against Lopez at all and that they have never even met, according to Huffington Post.
The rumours of the two being in a feud will perhaps never go away after little things about them are easily noticed by the people. The two singers however have insisted that there was never really a bad blood between them.
